Kate McEvilly

Hi! I’m Kate.

I write high-concept TV and features that center rule-breaking women in dynamic, high-stakes worlds. I like writing juicy setups and complicated characters who take up space, get into trouble, and struggle to figure themselves out - whether they’re stealing designer handbags, faking a relationship, or walking away from the life they thought they wanted.

I work across genres, but I’m especially drawn to character-driven dramas about identity and ambition and to edgy romantic comedies with heart.

I studied cultural anthropology, business, and sports marketing at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore before transferring to the University of California, Irvine to study medical anthropology and law and policy. So, naturally, now I’m a screenwriter.

My rom-com Irish Goodbye was a Quarter-Finalist at the 2024 PAGE International Screenwriting Awards, and my pilots LOOTERS and Sweet, Sweet Fantasy both advanced as Second Rounders at the 2022 Austin Film Festival.

I currently work as a creative assistant at Guilty Party Films where I champion flawed, fearless women who know how to throw a punch—literally and figuratively.

These are a few of my favorite things…

Shoot me a message, and say hello.
